In 2023, FORTHESQUIRRELS.COM officially launched - a simple passion project that lasted for a very short 8 months would turn into something almost impossible to fathom. While it began at simply posting interesting squirrel blogs and videos, we ended up learning to manage a business, code HTML and sell merchandise - fundraising a wildlife campaign. Within the span of 243 days, a passion project somehow realized into a very real effort to raise awareness to causes such as deforestation, pollution, and the ongoing climate crisis. After those eight months, I realized that I needed to redefine the entire project - because I had stepped out of my comfort zone and expanded the idea significantly, it was no longer simply "for the squirrels." So, taking a step back, me (and a few volunteers) wanted to make a destination, and define it as a place to step outside our comfort zones, and focus on many projects and ideas at once. So after taking some time to understand what that meant logistically - we made 'Lastweek.today.' Just like with FORTHESQUIRRELS.COM, it started as something small (a weekly blog post editorial) - to now a collaborative hub that specializes in music projects, art and animation, wildlife conservation (we didn't forget about that one :)) and editorial works. Through the next coming months, you can expect a rapid increase in project output, and if you'd like to work with us, please, fill out the collaboration form at the footer of the website! Any other concerns or questions can be directed to the contact page, available in the same place. Here's a small description for our current projects, and perhaps what is expected to come soon;
Every week on Sunday morning, you can read our latest editorial work - it will contain recent political, cultural, artistic, and international news broken down into short tabloids, and our current and future project plans and events. It will also detail how to participate in each, and how to become a site volunteer. You can view previous editorials in the archive section.
"the eye of design" - our publishing logo
We serve as a digital catalyst for wildlife activism by transforming raw conservation data into compelling, accessible narratives that bridge the gap between scientific urgency and public empathy. By centering our editorial mission on the stories of endangered and overlooked species, we dismantle the apathy often surrounding ecological crises and replace it with a sense of tangible urgency. Our platform functions as both a dedicated hub for advocacy and a creative space that challenges readers to reframe their relationship with the natural world, ultimately empowering a community of informed, motivated, and engaged environmental stewards.
